Final Round Procedures

 

If selected for the CompetitionÕs Final Round:

¥ Final Round of the Competition will take place at The University of Texas at El Paso, Recital Hall of the Fox Fine Arts Music Building: 

High School Round on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at 4:00 PM

and

Collegiate Round on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at 10:00 AM.

 

 

¥ Finalists should perform memorized solo pieces, one being a work by guest composer-in-residence, Wynn-Anne Rossi, and the other(s) representing one of the following four categories- Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary. Pieces are to be performed in their entirety and within the time limits of:

   High School Time Limit:  15 - 20 minutes

   Collegiate Time Limit:  20 - 25 minutes

Programs that are under the time limit will receive deduction of points and programs that are over the time limit will be disqualified.

 

 Repeats are optional. Multiple movements of a work may be entered as one selection; however Bach Preludes and Fugues from the Well Tempered Clavier are highly favored in their entirety as one repertoire choice.

 

 

¥ The repertoire chosen for the Preliminary Round may be repeated in the Final Round.

 

 

¥ Published editions of the scores of all performed pieces must be brought to the competitionÕs Final Round, with starting pages marked and measures numbered. No photocopied music may be used as this will result in an automatic disqualification of the contestant.
